Infrastructure & Cloud Operations Professional

I have 15 years of experience working in enterprise IT supporting systems, users, and platforms. In recent years, my focus has shifted toward Linux, virtualization, and cloud infrastructure, supported by home lab work alongside studying for new certifications.

This site brings together both sides of that experience, the operational work I’ve done in my career, and the infrastructure and platform projects I run and maintain in my home lab. It reflects how I work in practice through troubleshooting complex issues, building and maintaining reliable systems, and steadily moving deeper into infrastructure and cloud.

Cloud Operations

  • Cloud operations knowledge built mainly through Cloud+ and AWS study over the past year
  • Learned how EC2, launch templates, Auto Scaling groups and Systems Manager (SSM) are used in operations
  • Spent a lot of time learning how load balancers, health checks and target groups are used to keep services running and deal with failures
  • Familiar with instance access, patching, and configuration workflows using Systems Manager concepts
  • Understand how automation is used for routine tasks like access, configuration and orchestration, including the role of Systems Manager and runbooks
  • Understand how monitoring, alerting and IAM tie into operations and troubleshooting
  • Actively preparing for cloud operations and platform support roles

Linux Operations

  • Daily hands-on work with Linux
  • Familiar with multiple Linux distributions such as Debian, Fedora and Arch
  • Comfortable working and navigating in CLI
  • Experience managing users & permissions
  • Familiar with systemd services and system configuration
  • Built and maintain a Proxmox cluster and use a combination of QEMU/KVM, Docker Compose and LXC containers across all 3 nodes
  • Regularly work with boot and startup configuration, system services and kernel parameters
  • Experience setting up and maintaining storage and encryption, including combinations like Btrfs with LUKS
  • Setting up and maintaining network access including segmentation, firewall rules and safe access to services

Enterprise IT Operations

  • Long-term experience supporting large hybrid environments
  • Worked with Windows systems from XP and Windows 7 through to modern Windows 10 and 11
  • Comfortable fixing Windows systems in both lab and enterprise
  • Experience providing white-glove support
  • Troubleshooting issues across endpoints, Windows, Microsoft 365, VPN, MFA and connectivity
  • Strong troubleshooting mindset built around isolating OS, driver, network and application problems
  • Tend to take ownership of issues and follow them through until they are resolved
  • Used to digging into “weird” user and system issues
  • Comfortable bridging user-facing issues with underlying issue when problems are not purely desktop related

Mobility Operations

  • Supporting Blackberry, iOS and Android devices in enterprise environments
  • Working with device provisioning, enrolment and lifecycle
  • Previously serving as a mobility SME
  • Working directly with carriers, vendors and TEM providers
  • Owning a mobility account and carrier transition project, including planning and cutover support
  • Owning the full mobile device lifecycle, ordering, provisioning, replacements, returns and decommissioning
  • Supporting and troubleshooting third-party applications and working with vendors on issues
  • Working with mobile device management to enroll and configure devices
  • Applying compliance, security and configuration profiles through MDM policies
  • Supporting mobile routers and data lines, including APN settings and static IP configurations
