Cameron Schnurr

I work in enterprise IT supporting systems, users and platforms. In recent years my focus has shifted toward Linux, virtualization and cloud infrastructure, supported by home lab work while also studying for new certifications.

This site brings together both sides of that experience, the operational work I’ve done in my career and the infrastructure and platform projects I run and maintain in my lab. It reflects how I work in practice: troubleshooting complex issues, building and maintaining systems and learning new technologies.

Cloud Operations

  • Built cloud operations knowledge through AWS and Cloud+ study over the past year
  • Worked with core AWS compute services including EC2, Launch Templates, Auto Scaling Groups, and AWS Systems Manager (SSM) to understand how scalable infrastructure is deployed and maintained
  • Explored how load balancers, health checks and target groups maintain service availability and recover from instance failures
  • Familiar with instance access, patching, and configuration workflows using Systems Manager concepts
  • Studied how automation supports routine operational tasks including access management, configuration changes, and operational runbooks through services such as Systems Manager
  • Understand how monitoring, alerting and IAM tie into operations and troubleshooting
  • Preparing for cloud operations and platform support roles through continued hands-on lab work and certification progression including CompTIA Cloud+

Linux Operations

  • Daily hands-on work with Linux
  • Work across multiple Linux distributions including Debian, Fedora, and Arch
  • Operate comfortably in the Linux command line for system administration and troubleshooting
  • Manage users, groups, and permission models across Linux environments
  • Work with systemd services and core system configuration
  • Built and maintain a 3-node Proxmox cluster using QEMU/KVM virtualization, Docker Compose, and LXC containers
  • Configure and troubleshoot boot processes, startup services, and kernel parameters
  • Deploy and maintain encrypted storage configurations, including Btrfs with LUKS encryption
  • Configure and maintain network access controls, segmentation, and firewall rules to securely expose services

Enterprise IT Operations

  • Long-term experience supporting medium and large hybrid enterprise environments
  • Supported Windows platforms from Windows XP through Windows 11 across evolving environments
  • Operate comfortably in Windows administration
  • Delivered high-touch end-user and executive support while maintaining operational standards
  • Troubleshoot issues across Windows endpoints, Microsoft 365 services, VPN access, MFA authentication, and connectivity
  • Apply a structured troubleshooting approach to isolate OS, driver, network, and application issues
  • Own incidents end-to-end, following investigation and remediation through to resolution
  • Diagnose and resolve complex user and system issues that fall outside standard support scenarios
  • Bridge user-facing incidents with underlying infrastructure or platform issues when problems extend beyond the desktop

Mobility Operations

  • Supported BlackBerry, iOS, and Android devices across enterprise mobility environments
  • Managed device provisioning, enrollment and lifecycle operations across mobile fleets
  • Served as Mobility SME, supporting users, devices and mobile operations
  • Coordinated directly with carriers, vendors and TEM providers
  • Led a mobility account and carrier transition project, including planning and service cutover
  • Owned the mobile device lifecycle, including ordering, provisioning, replacement and decommissioning
  • Supported and troubleshot third-party mobile applications, working with vendors to resolve issues
  • Administered MDM enrollment and device configuration workflows
  • Supported mobile routers and cellular data services, including APN configuration and static IP deployments
